Strength training has long been seen as something you mainly do to build muscle or look good. But a new study adds to a growing body of evidence that shows lifting weights does far more than change how we look. It may help us live longer – even if you don’t spend hours each day in the gym.

AMEN! Been saying that for yrs. But, it doesn't set well with people coming from an obvious "Meathead" wgt lifter! Even Planet Fitness got onboard within the last couple yrs and threw out a bunch of their Mind numbing cardio equip and replaced it with Strength Training options. i.e. Squat Racks and Platforms, etc.... FREE WGT's!!!

I don't workout @ Planet. But, I have and the recent Nationwide reset is very impressive. -for Planet!

We all need wgt bearing exercise to improve or maintain our mobility, joints and connective tissue integrity. Strength training is paramount. Among Many, may positive aspects, it will create or maintain knee and hip stability and hopefully keep the Orthopedic surgeon far away! (It's the sedentary folks that get the bulk of knee replacements!) It's good for cardio vascular and cognitive health too!

And you don't have to be a Meathead to enjoy it and benefit from it

And perhaps keeping leaner body composition with some added cardio is even better!
