State-run psilocybin directories

Oregon and Colorado are the only US states with regulated psilocybin services. Their official databases are the authoritative source for licensed facilitators.

DirectoryWebsiteFocus and notes
Oregon Psilocybin Services (OHA)oregon.gov Licensee DirectoryLicensed service centers and facilitators. Listing is optional, so not every licensee appears.
Colorado Natural Medicine Divisiondnm.colorado.govOfficial healing center directory. Verify healing centers through the Division license look-up and facilitator licenses through DORA.

Vetting a provider

Verify the license with the state licensing board. A directory listing is not a credential check.

Look for formal psychedelic training from MAPS, Fluence, CIIS, Synthesis Institute or a comparable program.

Choose a licensed clinician over a coach after a difficult or destabilizing experience.

In Oregon and Colorado, cross-check both the facilitator license and the center license.

Ask about session fees up front. Licensed Oregon psilocybin sessions typically run $500 to $2,500 and are self-pay.

Psychedelic Therapy Counselor Reviews: CA, TX, NY and IL

Compiled November 2026 from patient reviews on Third Wave and Psychable. Covers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), psilocybin and psychedelic integration providers. Only listings with at least one review are included.

This follows up on the directory list. Reviews below are paraphrased. Click each name for the full profile and original reviews.

Key findings

  • Reviewed counselors are scarce. Third Wave lists 60 KAP or integration therapists in these four states. Only 5 have reviews.
  • Most reviewed listings on Psychable are ketamine infusion clinics and physicians, not counselors.
  • Nearly all Psychable reviews in these states are dated April 2021, which suggests a bulk import. Only 3 are from 2024 or later.
  • Psychable's homepage review feed shows 5 stars on every review, including clearly negative ones. Check the rating on the provider's own profile page.
  • At least two listings carry reviews that appear to come from the provider or their own practice.

Listings with critical reviews

All of the following are 1-star reviews posted on Psychable. They are individual reviewer opinions, not verified findings.
  • Kaila Compton (Berkeley, CA), 2.5 average from 8 reviews. Four 1-star reviews (2021 to 2023) raise concerns about boundaries, safety and a disputed diagnosis.
  • The Neuroscience Center (Deerfield, IL), 3.4 average. Two reviewers describe a disputed diagnosis and a dismissive manner.
  • Interpersonal Psychiatry (Los Angeles, CA), 3.7 average. One reviewer reports repeated double-booking.
  • Abhijit Shinde (Chicago, IL), 3.7 average. One reviewer reports long waits and unanswered messages.
  • Kai MacDonald (San Diego, CA), Lucas Jones (Berkeley, CA) and Lauren Marangell (Houston, TX) each have one 1-star review among mostly positive ones.

How to use these reviews

  1. Treat directory reviews as a starting point. Few providers have more than a handful, and many are years old.
  2. Read the review text, not just the stars.
  3. Watch for reviews posted by the provider or their own practice.
  4. Verify the license with your state licensing board before booking.
  5. Ask whether the provider offers a free consult, and what preparation and integration sessions are included.

Method: screened 60 Third Wave KAP and integration profiles and 327 Psychable profiles in CA, TX, NY and IL. Psychable listings were included if their Medicines field lists ketamine or psilocybin. Psychable shows at most five reviews per profile. Third Wave shows relative dates, so years are approximate.
